The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESIA/ESMP) for the Workers’ Camp at the South Coast Sewage Treatment Plant sets out how the Barbados Water Authority and its contractor, China Railway Shanghai Engineering Group, will manage the temporary accommodation and welfare of non-local workers, as well as safeguard surrounding communities, during construction of the Climate Resilient South Coast Water Reclamation Project (SCWRP). The SCWRP is financed by the Inter-American Development Bank and the Green Climate Fund, and the Workers’ Camp ESIA/ESMP is a core safeguard instrument that demonstrates how environmental, social, gender and community health risks will be identified, managed and monitored, and is therefore a key condition for responsible project implementation and ongoing compliance with both national requirements and international funder standards.SCWRRF_CRSEG_ESIA_ESMP_WORKERS CAMP 09.07.2026
