The Barbados Water Authority has been conducting investigations in all of the distribution networks since the passage of Hurricane Beryl and the Tropical Wave that impacted the island immediately following, to ensure that a pipe-borne supply had returned to all customers.

Investigations over the weekend, led to the discovery today, Monday, July 8th 2024, of what is believed to be a significant leak on a large-diameter main in difficult terrain between Endeavour and Rock Hall in St. Thomas.

The Authority will isolate the main in question between Orange Hill and Rock Hall for repairs to be conducted. This action is expected to affect approximately six (6) customers in Plumtree Hill.

The suspected burst is believed to be contributing to the challenges currently being experienced in the Castle Grant system which have caused the St. Joseph areas such as Chimborazo, Melvins Hill, St. Bernard’s and surrounding districts at higher elevations to be out of water.

The Authority will continue to help the affected residents via tanker while the problem is being addressed and will provide updates on the situation. Customers are reminded that they can report any issues to the Authority via 434-4292.

The BWA apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks its valued customers for their continued patience and understanding.    (ENDS)
