Ionics Freshwater Limited has informed the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) that there was a temporary stoppage at the Desalination Plant on the Mighty Grynner Highway last night Sunday, March 15th 2026. The plant resumed operation this morning, Monday, March 16th 2026, but due to the length of time being offline, the distribution systems normally feed from this source may be depleted of water.

As a result of this, residents of some parts of St. James, St. Thomas and St. Peter may currently be experiencing low pressure or a water outage. The Authority will make every effort to assist customers in the affected areas via its water tanker service or adjustments to its distribution network where necessary.

In St. James
Appleby, Derricks, Fitts Village, Holetown, Jamestown Park, Mount Standfast, Paynes Bay, Porters, Prospect, Sunset Crest, Trents, Sandy Lane, Lower Mount Standfast, Storehouse Gap, The Garden, Weston, Lower Crick Hill, Lower Carlton, Prior Park, Warrens Terrace, Warrens, Warrens Park South, Clermont, Clearview Heights, Husbands, Meadowvale Heights, Crystal Heights, Hoyte’s Village, Seaview, Halcyon Heights, Sunset Ridge, Lancaster, Orange Hill, Apes Hill, Greenwich and surrounding areas.

In St. Thomas
Arch Hall, Bibby’s Lane, Cane Garden, Jackson, Jackson Terrace, Edgehill, Melrose, Arthur Seat, Welches Heights, Redman’s Village, Bagatelle Park, Bagatelle Gardens and surrounding districts.

In St. Peter
Gibbs, Mullins, Road View, Battaleys, Farm Road, Heywoods Park, Speightstown and surrounding areas.
