Bridgetown, Barbados, October 8, 2026 — The Barbados Water Authority (BWA), through the South Coast Water Reclamation Project (SCWRP), will host an Early Market Engagement (EME) session on Monday, October 19, 2026, before upcoming Project procurement opportunities are formally advertised.

The session will give contractors, suppliers and service providers an early look at the types of opportunities expected under the SCWRP. It is intended to help firms prepare for the formal procurement process and support strong, competitive participation when opportunities are advertised.

The South Coast Water Reclamation Project is being implemented by the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) to improve wastewater collection, treatment and water-reclamation infrastructure along Barbados’ south coast. The Project will help strengthen the reliability and long-term sustainability of wastewater services for the households, businesses and communities served by the system.

The Project is financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the European Investment Bank and the Green Climate Fund.

“Early Market Engagement allows project units to have a better understanding of the market sector and its capacity and also mitigates project risks while reducing quixotic standards,” said Ian Constantine, Project Coordinator, SCWRP/BWA. “The October 19, 2026 session will help interested firms understand the opportunities that are expected and give the Project team useful feedback as it prepares the procurement packages.”

The current expected procurement pipeline includes one (1) major works package for pipeline infrastructure, estimated at approximately US$18 million, and one (1) major goods package for solar infrastructure, estimated at approximately US$14,000 million. Approximately sixteen (16) additional procurement packages are also expected for works, goods and services needed to support Project delivery.

“Early market engagement supports the SCWRP’s goal of delivering important wastewater and water-reclamation improvements through a fair, open and well-planned procurement process,” said Shelley Parris, Project Manager, BWA. “It helps us encourage strong market participation and gives qualified firms time to prepare before formal procurement notices are issued.”

The EME is not a call for bids, a request for proposals, a prequalification exercise or a commitment by BWA to award a contract. All procurement opportunities will be advertised separately in line with the applicable procurement requirements. Formal notices will be published in the print media and on the e-procurement portal and will include the scope of work, eligibility requirements, procurement method, timelines and instructions for submitting bids or proposals.

Details on the format, participation arrangements and registration process for the October 19th  Early Market Engagement session will be shared through official IDB and BWA communication channels. To register please scan the QR code:
