Barbados Climate Resilient South Coast Water Reclamation Project

The Government of Barbados, through the Barbados Water Authority (BWA), is implementing the Barbados Climate Resilient South Coast Water Reclamation Project, a transformative initiative made possible through financing totalling US$110 million from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

This landmark project is designed to strengthen Barbados’ water security and resilience by diversifying the island’s water supply through the safe reuse of reclaimed wastewater while advancing climate action, environmental sustainability, and food security. The project will also enhance water resource management, improve operational efficiency, strengthen institutional capacity, and promote gender mainstreaming across the water sector.

As the executing agency, the Barbados Water Authority will oversee the implementation of the project, with the procurement of consulting services, goods, and works being conducted in accordance with the Inter-American Development Bank’s eligibility rules and procurement procedures.
