PRESS RELEASE – BWA Engages Prospective Bidders on South Coast Water Reclamation Project Opportunities

Bridgetown, Barbados The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) brought together prospective suppliers, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders on Monday, October 19, for an online Early Market Engagement session on upcoming opportunities under the South Coast Water Reclamation Project (SCWRP).

The session introduced upcoming procurement opportunities under the project and gave prospective bidders and consultancies an opportunity to ask questions before formal bidding processes begin.

Opportunities presented covered environmental assessments, water conservation and public awareness, agricultural planning, project monitoring, solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems, and pipeline design and construction oversight.

“We want interested firms to understand the opportunities being prepared and have time to consider where their skills and experience could contribute,” said Ian Constantine, SCWRP Coordinator. “This session allowed us to explain the proposed assignments, hear questions directly and identify information that prospective bidders will need.”

The SCWRP Project Executing Unit specialists outlined the anticipated scope of the assignments, while procurement representatives provided guidance on submission requirements, accessing advertised opportunities and on requesting clarification through the designated channels.

Participants raised questions about environmental safeguards, solar plant requirements, separate procurement assignments, pipeline routing and the publication of bidding opportunities.

“The questions raised are useful to our preparation,” Constantine said. “They help us see where further explanation is needed so that firms can make informed decisions about participating when opportunities are advertised.”

Participation in the session did not constitute prequalification or provide an advantage in future procurement. Interested firms will be required to respond to the published notices and meet the requirements set out in the bidding documents.
