It has come to the attention of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) that customers have been receiving calls from individuals purporting to be BWA employees apparently seeking to make arrangements to visit their premises to conduct work.
The BWA carries out most of its work on the roadways of Barbados.
We wish to make abundantly clear the official procedures followed by BWA representatives when contacting customers.
- Any appointments are arranged by authorised staff using legitimate BWA numbers;
- These appointments can and should be confirmed directly with the BWA independently by the customer;
- When conducting the duties of the BWA, personnel MUST be in uniform and have picture identification issued by the Barbados Water Authority.
To prevent the dissemination of false information, ensure accuracy and to avoid fraudulent activity, it is important for persons to verify
- the need for the BWA to visit your property (should there be one)
and
- the identity of any individual claiming to represent the Authority.
All queries to confirm information relating to any of the Authority’s services should be directed to the Barbados Water Authority directly using our Customer Service number 434-4292.
The Authority urges its customers to stay alert and stay vigilant. (ENDS)
