The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) will commence work to replace the distribution main in Gibbes, St. Peter starting February 14th, 2024. The work will be conducted between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday over approximately the next four (4) to six (6) weeks. Some of the work may occur outside of these hours, if necessary.

This segment of mains replacement will stretch along Gibbes Road from its junction with Highway 1 to the junction with Caribbean View Road. During this time, residents and motorists should expect traffic delays as heavy equipment will be operating in the area affecting the flow of traffic and are advised to use an alternative route if possible. The Authority is also asking all persons traversing the roadway during this time to obey the flag men and safety signs around the job site. Persons may be affected by noise and dust as the trenching occurs.

The BWA does not expect there to be any disruption in the water supply to residents in the area until the final connections to the distribution system are being completed. Customers will be notified of any service disruptions ahead of time.

These works are being done to improve the water service delivered to residents in the area, prior to the complete resurfacing of the roadway in the area.

The Barbados Water Authority would like to thank the residents in advance for their understanding and cooperation as we seek to complete these upgrades. (ENDS)
