The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) advises the public that Highway 1C (Hope Road), St. Lucy, will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from Wednesday, October 22 to Friday, October 24, 2025, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily.

This closure is necessary to facilitate mains installation works in the area. Due to the narrow roadway, the use of large excavation equipment cannot be safely accommodated while maintaining normal traffic.

Traffic Diversions:

Southbound traffic from areas such as River Bay and St. Lucy District Hospital should continue along Highway 1C to Northumberland, then detour via Hope Bridge Road to access Spring Hall.

Northbound traffic from Spring Hall should use Hope Bridge Road through Northumberland to reach locations north of the closure, including District Hospital, River Bay, and Animal Flower Cave Road.

Every effort will be made to minimize disruption and restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.

The BWA apologizes for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as we work to improve essential infrastructure.

For further details and updates, please visit the BWA’s official channels. (ENDS)
