Today, September 4th, personnel from the Barbados Water Authority (BWA)’s Wastewater Division addressed reports of leakage from one of its sewer manholes on Baxter’s Road in The City.
Personnel conducting investigations on site to determine the nature and full extent of the problem discovered a blockage which they have since resolved. The blockage was attributed to high levels of grease and heavy debris including rags, plastics and metals found in the sewer line. Customers connected to the sewer system were not affected by the overflow and the area has been washed down and sanitised.
The Authority continues to advise persons using the system to be mindful of the things they discard via the sewer network. BWA personnel will continue to conduct ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the Bridgetown sewer network as usual. (ENDS)
