Hurricane Season has begun and the Barbados Water Authority is pushing ahead with getting its contingency measures in place.  With the assistance of Barbados Light & Power, the Authority will be installing generators at some facilities across the island.

The installation work will be undertaken between 8:30 am & 4:30 pm starting on Tuesday, June 6th and is expected to last until Saturday, June 10th, 2023.

The areas that may be affected are:

On June 6th Applewhaites, Baird’s Village, Belair, Bridge Cot, Briggs Hill, Byde’s Mill, Christie Village, Cottage, Cottage Terrace, Dukes Tenantry, Farm Road, Forty Acres, Free Hill, Grand View, Groves Tenantry, Harmony, Jordans, Locust Hall, Middleton, Newbury, Paradise, Prerogative, Proute, Retreat, Roach Village, Rock Hall, Salisbury, Shop Hill, St. Helen’s, Taitt Hill, Vaucluse Tenantry, White Hill Tenantry, Hopewell and surrounding districts.

On June 7th –  Fairview, Fairview Heights, Free Hill, Greens, Jordans, Middleton, Prerogative, Salisbury, St. Judes, Superlative, Workmans, Bannatyne, Boarded Hall, Brereton, Buttals Tenantry, Campaign Castle, Constant, Cox Road, Dayrell’s Hill, Eastlyn, Edey Village, First Step, Frere Pilgrim, Good Intent, Hannays Valley, Lower Brighton, Lower Greys, Mannings Village, South District, St. Davids, Walkers Valley, Watts Village, Waverley Cot, Windsor Tenantry and surrounding areas.

As a result, residents and businesses located in the mentioned districts may suffer low pressure or water outages while work is ongoing.

Customers are asked to store an adequate supply of water to assist and water tankers will be deployed to assist if necessary. Residents experiencing water supply issues in any of the areas are asked to call the BWA’s Customer Service Centre at 434-4292.
