The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) advises that there will be a temporary stoppage at the Ionics Desalination Plant on the Mighty Grynner Highway on Tuesday, July 7th and Wednesday, July 8th, 2026 to facilitate urgent electrical work to be conducted at the facility.

As a result of this work, customers in some parts of St. Michael, St. James, St. George, St. Thomas and St. Peter are expected to be impacted by low pressure or water outages.

The Authority will make adjustments to its distribution network to reduce the number of customers expected to be impacted and its water tanker fleet will make every effort to assist customers in the affected areas as well.

These areas may include:

In St. Michael

Warrens Terrace, Warrens, Warrens Park South, Clermont, Clearview Heights and surrounding districts.

In St. James

Appleby, Derricks, Fitts Village, Holetown, Jamestown Park, Mount Standfast, Paynes Bay, Porters, Prospect, Sunset Crest, Trents, Sandy Lane, Lower Mount Standfast, Storehouse Gap, The Garden, Weston, Lower Crick Hill, Lower Carlton, Prior Park, Husbands, Meadowvale Heights, Crystal Heights, Hoyte’s Village, Seaview, Halcyon Heights, Sunset Ridge, Lancaster, Orange Hill, Apes Hill, Greenwich and surrounding areas.

In St. George

Flat Rock and surrounding districts.

In St. Thomas

Arch Hall, Cane Garden, Jackson, Jackson Terrace, Edgehill, Melrose, Arthur Seat, Welches Heights, Redman’s Village, Kew Land, Bagatelle Park, Bagatelle Gardens and surrounding areas.

In St. Peter

Gibbs, Mullins, Road View, Battaleys, Farm Road, Heywoods Park, Speightstown and surrounding districts.

Customers are advised to store an adequate amount of water to assist themselves during this period.
