Leak detection teams from the Barbados Water Authority have discovered additional bursts on the main near one of its St. George stations. The Authority’s crews will therefore continue work to address these additional ruptures found, on Friday May 1st and Saturday May 2nd, 2026.
In order to conduct the repairs, the BWA will need to cease pumping from this facility for the duration of the repair, temporarily affecting residents of some St. George and St. Thomas districts supplied from this source.
As a result, customers in the following areas may experience low pressure or a water outage while repairs are underway.
Applewhaites, Baird’s Village, Belair, Bridge Cot, Briggs Hill, Bydes Mill, Christie Village, Cottage, Cottage Terrace, Dukes Tenantry, Fairview, Fairview Heights, Farm Road, Forty Acres, Free Hill, Grand View, Greens, Groves Tenantry, Harmony, Hopewell, Jordans, Locust Hall, Middleton, Newbury, Paradise , Proute, Retreat, Roach Village, Rock Hall, Workmans, Salisbury, Shop Hill, St. Helen’s, St. Judes, Superlative, Taitt Hill, Vaucluse Tenantry, White Hill Tenantry, Workmans and surrounding areas.
Persons in the above-mentioned areas who still have a pipe-borne supply are advised to store some water to assist during the period of disruption. The Authority will also make every effort to assist residents via tanker as a temporary measure.
The Barbados Water Authority apologises for the inconvenience this service disruption may cause and will update customers once repairs are complete. (ENDS)
