The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) invites members of the public to review the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA/ESMP) document for the proposed upgrade of the Bridgetown Sewage Treatment Plant (BSTP), as part of the national consultation process.
The proposed upgrade forms part of the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle for Climate Resilience Wastewater Systems in Barbados (3R-CReWS) Project, which is being jointly executed by the Barbados Water Authority and the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), with funding from the Green Climate Fund and the Government of Barbados.
This project is intended to improve wastewater treatment performance, support the safe reuse of treated wastewater, and strengthen Barbados’ water security and climate resilience.
In accordance with the regulatory requirements of the Planning and Development Department (PDD), members of the public are invited to review the ESIA and submit comments on the project. The deadline for comments is April 30, 2026.
Physical copies of the document will be available for review at the following locations:
The Bridgetown Main Library, Independence Square
The Planning and Development Department, Block C, The Garrison
Barbados Water Authority Headquarters, Pine Industrial Park, The Pine
The document will also be available online. Click here to view the ESIA.
A hybrid public consultation meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Primary School, Mason Hall Street, Bridgetown.
The Zoom link for the online stream will be shared via the BGIS and BWA websites and social media pages.
