The BWA has been made aware of a video circulating on social media featuring an individual pumping a substance from a red storm water well into the sea at Oistins. The narrator of the video is erroneously claiming the liquid to be some form of sewage. The BWA team viewed the footage and dispatched its Industrial Waste Inspector, Verrol Ann Scott, to investigate the report.
In addition to the findings of today’s investigation into the matter, Brian Stuart, Senior Engineer in the Authority’s Wastewater Division reminds the public that “it is the policy of the BWA to investigate all reported sewage related matters promptly and this instance would have been treated to in the same manner. It must also be stated that in almost all of these instances the liquid being referenced is not sewage.” (ENDS)
