Update # 2 – Emergency repair work on a 16-inch main at Mount Standfast in St. James continues
The Barbados Water Authority wishes to inform the public that work continues apace to repair a 16-inch main at Mount Standfast in St. James today Thursday, July 30.
A site had to be cleared and excavated for crews to replace approximately fifty (50) feet of 16-inch diameter pipe. At this stage, the team is in the process of bolting up of the pipe and then the new section of main will be chlorinated before the water can be turned back on. Once supply through the main has resumed, further checks will then be made to confirm the integrity of the pipe.
The Authority will continue to keep customers in parts of St. Michael, St. James and districts affected by outages or low pressure as a result, updated on the progress of the work.
Repair crews also today continue work on suspected bursts in the areas of Hinds Hill and St. Stephen’s in St. Michael.
The BWA apologizes for the inconvenience these service disruptions have caused.
