CURRENT UPDATES FROM THE BWA
BARBADOS WATER AUTHORITY
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
The Barbados Water Authority would like to inform the public on the issues being addressed by the BWA today Tuesday, May 28th.
Low Reservoir Levels
Today, the Authority is experiencing low levels at the Golden Ridge, Lodge Hill and Fort George locations while the reservoirs at Castle Grant and Shop Hill are empty. The low levels may result in low pressure and possible water outages being experienced in the St. Michael, St. James, St. Joseph, St. John,
St. George, St. Andrew and St. Thomas districts fed from these facilities. Customers in districts generally impacted who have water at present, are advised to store some to assist them should an outage occur later in the day.
The technical fault at the Newmarket Pumping Station was corrected and the station put back online last night Monday 27th.
Today, Tuesday 28th, repair crews are presently rectifying an electrical issue at the Waterford Pumping Station. The areas which may currently be affected by low pressure or outages as a result include:
Welches Terrace, Kew Land, Arthur Seat, Redman’s Village and surrounding areas.
Prior Park and surrounding areas.
Medford Road, Whitehall, Skeete’s Road, Friendship, Jackmans, Hothersal, Lower Estate, Eden Lodge, Green Hill, Warrens and surrounding areas.
Repair Work at the Globe Roundabout
The majority of the repair work on the ruptured 15-inch main near the Globe Roundabout has been completed and the water was turned back on during the night. However, some remedial work still remains to be finished and BWA crews will address that after hours.
Work Being Conducted on Mains
BWA crews are carrying out repairs to a 3-inch main at Cane Garden, St. Andrew and investigating reports of a suspected burst on a 4-inch main in Wanstead Terrace, St. James.
Water tankers have been dispatched to assist customers in the all of the affected districts.
The Barbados Water Authority sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience these service disruptions are causing its valued customers and thanks you for your patience as work to resolve them continues.
